Show Host Jay Leno Coming to Horseshoe Casino for Two Shows
TUNICA RESORTS, MS – – Jay Leno, one of America’s favorite comedians, will showcase his unique comedic style at Horseshoe Casino & Hotel for two shows on Saturday, July 1, 2006 at 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM. Jay Leno began his career working night clubs before he got his big break in 1992 hosting his own late night talk show, “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” Before landing the coveted host position, Leno made several television appearances on “Late Night with David Letterman” and served as Johnny Carson’s permanent guest host on the legendary “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.” When Carson retired in 1992, it was Jay Leno who was given the responsibility of entertaining America.
Although Carson left big shoes to fill, Leno has proven himself to be one of the country’s premier comedians. The top-rated “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” continues to be a favorite among viewers. Leno’s unique personality and comedic style strikes a cord with those who identify with his light, fun-loving style. “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” has earned two Emmy Awards as well as the title “Favorite Late Night Show” in the annual TV Guide Awards in 1999 and 2000. Leno remains passionate about performing for live audiences, so he continues to appear regularly in Las Vegas and on college campuses; he even travels overseas to give a laugh to military troops serving abroad.
In addition to the success of “The Tonight Show,” Leno has earned a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, as well as the distinction of being the first person to drive the pace car of all major NASCAR events. Cars are one of his greatest passions and he enjoys working on his collection of classic cars and motorcycles outside of work. He has also written two books, “Leading with My Chin” and a children’s book, “If Roast Beef Could Fly,” which was a New York Times Bestseller upon its release in April 2004. Additionally, Leno has published four versions of “Headlines,” a compilation of books and desk calendars featuring his favorite funny newspaper headlines and “Police Blotter,” a book with newspaper clips involving police stories.
