May ...Summing
it up Coming from Memphis on
Interstate 55 will be easier. They are just about finished with widening
55 near stateline rd in Southaven. Yippppeee. The final touches (new lights,
shoulder work & etc) is to be finished by mid July. RiverBend is a go! The last few months the developers have been busy as bees buying up the nearly 5,000 acres. For years now we have looked forward to the "ground breaking" and it looks like it will happen in a matter of days. For those of you who haven't heard about RiverBend it is a planned community which will be built from the Tunica County line right at the Grand Casino Property line all the way North to Star Landing Rd. Universal Studios / MGM will be one of the anchor properties. I will post a map of the proposed outlay and businesses in a day or so. In about 10-15 years population of RiverBend should reach around 20,000+. Exciting retail outlets and recreation will also be in the project. Check the newspaper article I just posted "Over the Fence" Thread. Last Week TG Sheppard hosted a concert with Cowboy Crush at Gold Strike Casino.
The fiddle player will blow your socks off. What a talent! Watch out for these girls. go to www.myspace.com/cowboycrush for more info. Oh and check the Coming Home Video. The US Military picked up the song and has been using it in their training videos. Don't hesitate if you ever get the chance to see Cowboy Crush. VERY entertaining and a must see. Following Cowboy Crush TG Sheppard took the stage to perform again to a SOLD OUT performance. I really don't think it is possible to tire of listening to TG sing. I did an interview a couple of months ago on TG. His career is truly mind blowing with 32 years 55 albums, around 20 number 1 hits....wow.. TG has a new album out called Timeless where he sings priceless songs of the big band era. He told me once, "I like to sing the sexy songs". Boy, does he do a good job at it too! Next month he is bringing in Bill Anderson and Little Jimmy Dickens Legendary Stars of the Grand Ole Opry. Then in July the winners of the CMT Nashville Star. TG told me the other night Gold Strike has signed up for two more months August and September with his series. Now that's exciting. I will be there. Get your tickets early because nearly every performance has been an early sell out.
What a night! Reba McEntire performed in the parking lot near the Veranda Hotel at Grand Casino last Friday night. What a night it was. Thousands showed up to see her sing her heart out. The night was perfect. The weather was calm and perfect 72 degrees. You just couldn't order a more perfect setting. Proceeds went to Habitat for Humanity in conjunction with Whirlpool. Pictures are scarce. Reba would only let cameras be used in the first 30 seconds of the first two songs. Security was really tight too. I did manage to get a few pics, plus Grand will be sending in a few days the pics they took. The crowd really enjoyed Reba and in turn she appeared to enjoy the crowd. What a performer! What a lady! Thanks to Reba for helping others and being so unselfish and giving. Sheraton Casino Tunica Specials - If you are in Tunica don't pass up stepping inside Sheraton to play. There are specials everyday and the only way to find out about them is to "be there that day". Recently we have seen where TJ Cinnamons had 99 cent BBQ sandwichs, special coupons or drawings at the table games, special drinks of the day such as apple martinis, lemon drops, But........ the biggie last thursday was 5x's your cashback in slot play! OMG was that a cool surprise! I usually cash out when I get to about $50 and thank goodness I had left mine alone. What a sweet surprise. One of our friends that was with us ended up with over $1,000 in slot play. Today it was 3x's which I was surprised since it was a holiday and the place was packed. Resorts Casino Tunica- We all know Resorts doesn't have a poker room, but guess what? You can play poker at Resorts now! Yup! Over by the table games on the end toward the hotel are some electronic poker tables. NO DEALERS. I saw these for the first time at Southland Greyhound Park in West Memphis, ARk. When I walked by these at Resorts, my first thought is this gonna work here? No one was at the tables. About 30 minutes later my curiosity got the best of me and I had to go check the new poker tables out again. I found two tables almost full and one table was having a blast talking and playing. I would have joined them but had to hurry and get our "prize" and get home. Resorts has had some door busting coupon offers and merchandise offers this month and looks like next month too. Resorts is no longer the ghost town. It is a popping place. Clean, roomy, I have to recommend if you haven't been lately.......go. Horseshoe Casino Tunica Buffet - For those of you who like the Mexican Station, I do believe it maybe phasing out. Last couple of times we have been there Onion Rings, Fries, and Hamburgers have been the offerings. The hamburgers are small like Krystal but meaty. Very good and they go fast. RiverPark Gift Shop - Don't overlook this place. Tom and I took out of town company by the other day and I was so impressed with the selection of gifts, souvenirs, and pick up trinkets. Prices are really reasonable and the costume jewelry is impressive. I think this makes our 15th trip to RiverPark and everytime I bee line to the gift shop.
Zombie night - First ever was last Friday night. The undead had a crawl down Beale St. What a sight! Strange but entertaining. Take time out and get a surrey ride around Memphis. Especially at night time. $40 half hour $75 for an hour. You won't regret it. The Gaming
Summit and Biloxi - First part of May we went to
Biloxi for the gaming summit. I posted a report on Biloxione Forum. If you
didn't see it here's the link. I included some pics of new machines some of
you may like.
If i think of anything else I will holler back. Something you want me to check on.....holler at me.
