Burgess of the Memphis Based Newspaper, The Commercial Appeal, and Casino
Magazine wins the Media Charity Tournament at Gold Strike Casino in Tunica.
The Media Event kicked off the 2005 Jack Binion World Poker Open. John won
$1,000 to go to the Wings Foundation of the West Clinic. Over 46 media
players from around the world competed for their favorite charity. A pocket
pair of Jacks was John's slam dunk on his final hand of No Limit Texas
Hold'Em.

Media Event - January 5th
2005 An
impressive record breaking crowd showed up the first day of the Jack Binion
World Poker Open for 2005 at the Gold Strike Casino in Tunica. Likewise for
the Media Event where 46 people, who bring you the news, vowed for the top

from Memphis Based TV station Channel 3 WREG settle in and anticipate the
deal of the first hand of the event.
The
Voice of Tunica, Rudi Schiffer, from
Jackpot Magazine and the
popular radio show Good Times has his sleeves rolled, his trademark cigar,
and cap tilted just right ready to go.
Radio, internet websites, poker
magazines, TV, newspapers, and other media outlets from all over the world
showed up to vie for the Media Event Championship. Note the crowd in the
background playing the first round for the JBWPO.
The
Pressure is on for the final round of the Media Event. The top 10 players
were presented Jack Binion World Poker Open Jackets.

World Series of Poker Media Director looks on as player anxiety mounts.
Pamela
from France is the only lady left at the final round table. Her patient and
gentle nature pays off as she captures second place.
